The first genuinely warm Saturday brings White Lake Township outside all at once — boats going in at Union Lake, garage doors up the length of every street, the smell of cut grass carrying two blocks. Grass here grows hard from May into September and asks for a regular week rather than an occasional one. A lawn cut on schedule never gets that rough, catching-up look.
