Western Wayne County is old lakebed, flat as a table, with almost nothing standing between Westland and the wind that crosses it. That geography makes snow drift, and drifted snow is its own problem, ridging along fence lines and building back over ground you cleared an hour ago. Anglin Civil Service Facility handles the winter side of that: plowing, stacking piles where they won't melt back across the pavement, and treating the spots that refreeze at dusk. Open ground rewards a plan, because where the snow goes matters as much as when it moves. By March the piles are gray and shrinking, and the season has been a long argument won an inch at a time.
