Norwayne's blocks are small and neighborly, laid out in tight rows during the war years, back when Westland was still Nankin Township. Acosta's Lawn Maintenance moves through them the way the streets themselves do: short lots, quick turns, a mower and a trimmer working the fence lines. Come December the same drives need opening, and the plow goes back over ground the mower already knows by heart. Grass in June, snow in January, one route and two weathers. What stays constant is a yard that looks tended and a walk you can cross without thinking about it.
