The Indian River runs a short bright mile between Burt Lake and Mullett, and all August the boats come through it with the patience of a parade. Blanzy Home & Lawn keeps the yards along that stretch of Tuscarora Township looking their part — weekly mowing, trimming around the pines and the propane tank, a sharp line held where lawn meets sand and drive. Up here the season is short and everybody knows it, so the grass gets its attention while it has the chance. Cleanup comes at both ends: pine litter and winter leftovers in May, needles and leaves again once the lake turns cold. A trimmed lawn under big pines with water showing through the trunks is hard to improve on.
