The first warm week of April is a mess and a promise at once: road sand ground into the turf, matted leaves in the beds, everything still three weeks from being green. TruNorth Landscaping starts its year right there — raking winter out, hauling the debris off, cutting back what did not make it, refreshing mulch, and then the first mow that finally makes a yard look like a yard again. From there it runs to weekly mowing, trimming and edging, and feeding and weed control paced to the short summer this latitude allows, with a fall cleanup to close the book. Drive north toward Suttons Bay and the orchards and vineyards go right down to the shore of the bay; that is the standard for what tended ground looks like in this county. The goal is a lawn that belongs in the picture.
