That is Rainbow Maintenance Inc's hour — lots plowed and the piles stacked clear of the spaces, sidewalks and entryways shoveled right to the door, salt down on the walk before the first key hits the first lock, and a second pass at midday when the sky opens again. Downtown does not pause for weather; the shops open, the offices fill, and the difference between a good day and a bad one is often just whether somebody cleared the ramp. Storefronts, office drives and home driveways all get the same treatment, across town and the townships around it, all winter.
