Cherry Festival week fills Front Street end to end, and the mowing route goes on regardless, one yard after another out in the neighborhoods where nobody is watching a parade. Green Team Lawn Care runs Traverse City lawns all summer — mowing, string trimming, edging, spring and fall cleanups, and leaves cleared once the oaks and ash let go in October. Mid-July is the heart of it, with the grass growing hard and the route tight. A crew that arrives when it says it will and leaves a yard looking finished is doing something worth doing. By November the mowers go quiet and the town gets its streets back.
