In June the grass along the TART Trail is cut short and cool by eight in the morning, and Traverse City smells like water and mown clover. Bayside Maintenance keeps lawns through that stretch — mowing, trimming, edging, and hauling off the clippings and the leaves once fall turns the trees. Then the work flips entirely: plowing and shoveling, salt on the corners that glaze, drives opened again and again from December on. Both halves come down to the same thing, which is a place looking cared for on the day somebody comes home to it. The bay sets the calendar; the work keeps up with it.
