About Bares Outdoor Services LLC

The band comes across Leelanau around midnight, and by two the streetlights in Traverse City are just cones of falling white. Bares Outdoor Services LLC works those hours — plowing, shoveling and salting so the first alarm clock of the morning meets an open driveway instead of a problem. Snow off Lake Michigan does not so much fall as accumulate in layers, one squall stacked on the last, which means the job is rarely finished in a single pass. There is a particular pride in a walkway cleared down to the concrete with the steps salted and the mailbox reachable. That is the whole ambition, repeated all winter.
