By October the valley light goes low and gold, and the combines run late in the fields out past the township line. Ziegelmann Outdoor is finishing its own harvest around then — final cuts, leaf removal, fall cleanup — after a summer of mowing, edging and trimming across Tittabawassee Township. There is something quietly satisfying about the last mow of a year, a lawn put away neat as a made bed. Spring cleanup opens it all back up once the ground thaws and the frost heaves settle. In between, it is weekly work, done in order, week after week.
