Inland from Tawas City the Huron National Forest begins, and with it a silence that snow only deepens. Northwoods works both sides of that line — mowing, trimming and edging through the green months, plowing and salting once the pines start holding drifts along the driveways. A yard carved out of forest is its own project: shade, roots, needles, and edges that want to disappear back into the woods every single year. They hold those edges. In February the job is simpler and harder at once — get the lane open, get the walk down to bare ground, and let the day begin. It's honest work in a place that rewards showing up.
