Tawas City faces east, so the day starts here before it starts almost anywhere else in Michigan — the sun coming straight up out of Lake Huron and across the bay. Bayside Landscaping, LLC is usually already working by then: mowing and trimming the lawns that run down toward the water in summer, plowing drives and salting walks once the bay turns white and the wind gets teeth. Sand soil, lake wind and a short green season make lawn care here its own discipline, and they have made peace with all three.
