Winter on the Leelanau Peninsula is long, white and mostly private — the bay steaming on a cold morning, M-22 running empty between snowbanks. Leelanau Lawn & Snow LLC works both ends of that year: plowing drives and lots and clearing walkways through the deep months, then mowing, edging and trimming out the corners from the first green week to the last. A driveway opened before daylight on a back road above Suttons Bay is a small thing that changes the shape of somebody's whole day. Summer up here is short and generous, and the lawns take full advantage, so the cutting runs tight and regular. Same properties, same hands, one half of the year handing off to the other.
