The old rail line through Stanton is a trail now, running flat past farm lots and second-growth woods on its way across Montcalm County. Mid Michigan Snow & Landscape Products works the town on both sides of the calendar: cutting grass, trimming and clearing beds through the warm months, then pushing snow and breaking ice once the county goes white. Winter out here is wind-driven — open fields let a drift close a driveway as fast as you can open it, so timing is everything. Summer asks for consistency instead: same route, same day, borders held straight. Getting both halves right is what the year amounts to.
