Stanton sits between its lakes with the county courthouse at the middle and potato ground running out in every direction. Lucky Bird Lawns, LLC mows the town's yards and the lake places just past the edge of it, trimming close around docks, posts and porch steps. Montcalm summers are humid and quick; grass gains an inch overnight and the schedule has to keep pace. Cleanups in April and again in November mark either end of the run. In between it is weekly cutting and the plain pleasure of a lawn that looks even when you see it from the water side.
