Take one street in Springfield and watch it for a year: bare and salted in February, soft and greening by May, cut short and glowing at dusk in July, under snow again by Thanksgiving. Greenscape Services works that whole circle — plowing and clearing drives and walkways in winter, then mowing, trimming and edging the rest of the way around. Storms come in off the west here with little warning, and the drives near Urbandale and the Bedford line get opened before the morning commute. In summer the reward is simpler: an even cut and a border you can follow with your eye. One property, every month on the calendar, looked after the same way.
