River fog sits low over Saranac most mornings in early summer, the Grand moving slow under the bridge while the village comes awake around it. Michigan Well and Pump keeps lawns cut and kept along those river flats and the roads climbing out of the valley, with mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups in spring and fall. The bottomland soil is rich and the grass knows it, so the schedule matters more here than in most places. By afternoon the fog is long gone, the yards are striped, and M-21 carries on past a village that looks looked after.
