Snow does not so much fall on Sand Lake as arrive in bands, blown in off the big lake and laid down along the US-131 corridor in a single gray afternoon. Preferred Landscaping meets it with plows and shovels: driveways opened, walkways cleared, ice salted before anybody has to think about it. When the ground finally lets go in April the work flips completely to mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups, and to the slow pleasure of a lawn coming back green under the pines. There is a particular pride in a drive cleared to bare pavement, and a matching one in a lawn cut straight to the last corner.
