In June the sun is up over Rudyard before five and still lingering near ten, and the grass takes full advantage of every hour it is given. Luft's Lawns works those long days, mowing and trimming the yards set among the hayfields and cedar swamps, keeping edges tight where lawn runs out into gravel or pasture. The green season is brief this far north, which makes a well-kept yard feel like something earned rather than assumed. Then the light shortens, the ground hardens, and the same properties want a plow instead, drives and walks opened after each blow. It is one place, worked all the way around the calendar, with a real fondness for how it looks in either color.
