At four in the morning in February, Roscommon is blue-dark and completely silent except for a plow. The storms come across the state in long gray bands and lay down a foot without much drama, and somebody has to be out in it before the school buses run. Dent Yard & Home Care, LLC clears drives, opens walkways and puts down salt where the ice sets up hard along the shaded north sides of houses. In the warm half of the year the same trucks bring mowers, and the work becomes cutting, trimming, edging and the cleanups that bracket a northern summer. Two very different jobs, one steady habit: show up, and leave the place usable.
