About Walden Design

Some yards want to be quieter than others — less lawn, more shade, a bench where the ground falls away toward the trees. Walden Design works in that register around Rockford, shaping landscapes and keeping the grass within them cut and edged so the whole composition reads. An October morning shows what the design is doing: where the light lands, where the eye stops, which corner stays soft with frost until the sun clears the pines. Restraint takes as much work as abundance, and a lawn held to a clean shape is what lets everything else be still. The aim is a yard you want to sit in, not just look at.
