Riverview has a hill, which is unusual Downriver, and from the top of it the flat river plain and the mouth of the Detroit lay themselves out below. McGregor's Landscape keeps that plain looking after itself — mowing, trimming and edging through the growing months, then plowing drives and lots and clearing walks when the lake wind turns over. Snow here falls wet and dense off the water; it wants a blade with weight behind it and a willingness to start in the dark. Summer asks for something else entirely: a lawn cut on a cool morning, the stripes running toward the street, the beds cleared of whatever blew in. In Riverview the two jobs are really one job, kept up address by address.
