The north branch of the Clinton River winds through the low ground in Ray Township, and the yards near it are a different job than the ones out on the open sections — softer soil, more shade, grass that keeps growing in a week when everyone else's has slowed. Joe'z Landscaping LLC mows to suit that, staying off wet ground, keeping the height up under the big trees, trimming along the bank line and around the outbuildings. Edges get cut so the lawn ends cleanly at the gravel instead of drifting into it. In spring there is winter litter to clear out of the low corners; in fall there are more leaves down there than anywhere else in the township, and they come out too. Shade country, handled right, is the greenest ground around.
