Rapid River sits where the highway bends around the top of Little Bay de Noc, cedar swamp on one side, national forest on the other, and open water throwing weather at the town all winter. Blue Oasis Lawn takes the whole calendar on: plowing driveways and clearing walks through the long Upper Peninsula freeze, then mowing, trimming and cleaning up yards during the bright, fast summer that follows. Snow arrives here in quantity and stays, so the work is about staying ahead of it — drives opened before dawn, banks stacked back, ice managed on the shaded stretches that never see sun.
