At the tip of the Thumb the sun comes up straight out of Lake Huron, and on a calm morning the harbor at Port Austin is about the quietest place in Michigan. Rescue Landscaping, LLC works the whole year around that water — mowing, trimming and edging for cottages and year-round homes through the summer, then plowing, shoveling and salting once the lake goes gray and the gales start coming ashore. Winter out here is wind first and snow second; a driveway can fill twice before breakfast. Summer is the opposite, all long light and short grass and a shoreline full of people who came a long way to sit in a yard. Keeping both versions of this town looking right is the job.
