About Green Standard Co.

Snow reaches Washtenaw County on a fast clipper more often than a headline storm — three inches overnight, then a wind that scours it into all the wrong places. Green Standard Co. handles snow removal across Pittsfield Township, working lots and drives along the State Street and Ellsworth corridors while the traffic is still hours off. Plowing, shoveling walks, opening entryways and salting the ice that forms where melt runs — done in the order that gets people safely from car to door. There is real pride in a lot that is black and clear at opening time, with the piles stacked where they will not block a sightline. By the time the first commuter turns in off Michigan Avenue, the night's work has gone invisible, which is exactly right.
