Turf Commando

About Turf Commando

Van Buren County ground is sandy and generous — the fruit belt runs through here, orchard rows and berry fields between the woodlots, and lawns that green up early and keep at it. Turf Commando takes the growing half of the year with mowing, trimming and edging, then swings over to plowing, walk clearing and ice control when the road commission trucks start showing up at night. Summer heat can brown a lawn quickly out here, so timing a cut matters nearly as much as making it. Winter runs the other direction: everything happens in the dark, and the target is a drive that's open before the first alarm goes off. Two different jobs, one township, all twelve months.
