Petoskey stacks itself up the hill from Little Traverse Bay, and winter comes straight off the water in bands that can white out the harbor while the ridge above sits in sun. Gibson Excavating plows those grades — steep drives taken from the top down, turnarounds opened, walks cleared and treated so the climb to the door is honest footing. Hill work rewards patience: cut from the top, the snow goes where gravity already wanted it, and the drive stays open the rest of the day. The best of it is the early view — headlights on the snowbanks, the bay going pale before sunrise, every drive on the route already clear. Plowing runs Petoskey, Bay View, Harbor Springs, and Conway.
