Downtown Paw Paw is a few short blocks of brick storefronts, and in January they wake up under whatever the night decided to deliver. Roberts Landscapes is out ahead of that — plowing driveways and lots, cutting walks open, laying salt where the shade keeps ice patient and slippery. Snow arrives here in bands off the big lake, generous some nights and relentless on others, so the route runs on the storm's clock instead of a comfortable one. There's real pride in a lot scraped clean to the stripes before the first car turns in. A winter morning should start with an open drive and nothing else to think about.
