Four o'clock on a January morning in Owosso: it has been falling since midnight, the streets belong to nobody, and the plow lights are already swinging up a driveway. Spielman Lawn & Snow works that hour — drives opened end to end, walks shoveled down to concrete, salt laid where meltwater will freeze hard again before the buses head east toward Corunna. By the time a kitchen window lights up, the drive is a clean rectangle and the mailbox can be reached without a wade. The calendar turns and the same ground goes green, and the work becomes weekly mowing, trimming, edging and hauling off what winter left in the corners. Two seasons, one truck, the same idea underneath both: be there before it turns into a problem.
