Owosso has always been a town that keeps iron running — the big steam locomotive still lives here, and the rail lines still stitch the place together east and west. Owosso Hitch and Plow belongs to that tradition in a smaller key: a truck, a blade, and a storm that started around midnight. The work is driveways and lots pushed open, walks cleared, banks stacked back where they will not creep into the turning space by February. There is a plain pleasure in hitching up on a bad night and rolling home at daybreak with the whole route behind you. Shiawassee County winters are long, and somebody has to make them passable.
