About Great Lakes Lawn Co

Michigan hands out a lot of gray in May — a soft overcast that drifts in off the big water, settles over Shiawassee County for a week, and drops just enough rain to make everything grow an inch a night. Great Lakes Lawn Co works in that weather rather than around it, mowing between the showers, trimming close along foundations and fences, blowing the wet clippings off the drive so nothing stains. A lawn cut in gray light shows its color better than one cut at noon, which is a small consolation for damp boots. The season runs long here, from first green through the last cool cutting of October, and it takes a weekly hand to keep it even. Nothing complicated — just grass done right, all summer, around Owosso.
