Ossineke keeps one shoulder against Lake Huron and the other in cedar and state forest, with US-23 running the seam between them. The name gets a grin at the hardware counter, but the mowing is straight and the trim lines are tight. Lawns along this stretch of the sunrise coast stay cool and green well into September, fed by lake air and long light, and they hold a cut for days. Mow, trim, edge, haul off what comes down, and leave a yard looking like nobody was there except the grass got shorter.
