About Merritt services

Snow arrives in Oscoda Township with an argument — off the lake, sideways, filling a driveway back in almost as fast as you can open it. Merritt services runs the dark hours for exactly that, blade down on the roads out past Van Etten Lake while the rest of the shore is still asleep. Plowing, shoveling and salt on the walks, done in the order that gets people out the door on time. By the hour the coffee is on, the pavement is showing and the piles are set where the wind will not hand them back. It is plain, cold, useful work, and finishing it before daylight is the whole point. Oscoda Township, AuSable and the shoreline toward Greenbush all get the same treatment.
