A June evening in Ontwa Township smells like cut grass and lake water, and the light hangs on the fields until nearly ten. Lattimer Lawns spends those hours mowing, trimming and edging the yards between Juno and Pleasant Lake, finishing each one while there is still sun enough to read the lines by. When the year turns, the same roads are run in headlights and cold air, plowing drives and salting walks. The two halves look nothing alike and ask for exactly the same thing: show up, do the whole yard, leave it clean. Nothing gets left half-finished at the gate.
