The Rifle River makes its last slow bend through Omer before it runs down to Saginaw Bay, and the whole small city sits within earshot of the water. AM PM Yard Service takes its name literally: mowing and trimming in the long light of a summer evening, plowing at the black end of a January night. Yards along the river come up thick and want their edges cut clean; the drives along US-23 want to be open before anyone heads out for the early shift. Cleanups in spring, leaves in fall, salt and shovel whenever the bay wind pushes snow across the flats. Small city, full year, both ends of the clock.
