A driveway in Nunda Township earns its keep: frost heaves it, meltwater runs across it, and for five months of the year it lives under snow. AP Sealcoating spends those months plowing the drives it works — reading where the crown falls, where water stands, where the blade should lift so nothing gets torn up underneath. Walks are shoveled, the slope by the garage gets salt, and the turnaround is kept wide enough to swing a truck around without a three-point. Northern Michigan hands out snow generously and takes its own time about spring, so the route runs again and again, storm on storm. The blacktop is still under there, and come April it comes back out in one piece.
