Capac sits on the old rail line through Mussey Township, a village of shade trees and side streets that go from pavement to farm field in about three blocks. Capac Lawn Care works those streets on a weekly turn — mowing, trimming around trees, fences and hydrants, edging the walks so the concrete shows its full width again. A village block cut on the same afternoon reads as one long lawn, and that is worth doing properly. Once the plows have finished for the year, the winter's sand comes back out of the turf; in November the leaves come off the grass and out of the gutters along the curb. St. Clair County summers are humid and the growing hardly pauses, so neither does the schedule.
