The older blocks near downtown Muskegon hold small, deep yards behind brick and clapboard, each one its own puzzle of gates, beds and shade. Bill's Lawn Care LLC works that kind of ground — mowing, trimming into the tight corners, edging where the walk meets the grass, cleanups spring and fall. Saturday mornings on those streets smell like cut grass and lake air at the same time. Getting a narrow city lot to look tidy end to end takes more turning than a wide one ever will, and it is the more satisfying job for it. Muskegon and the towns around it keep the season full from the first cut onward.
