About Acme Tree Service

Out toward the dunes the trees grow low and tough — cottonwood, black oak, wood that has learned to live on sand and a steady push of air off Lake Michigan. Acme Tree Service works from that edge back into town, trimming crowns that have gotten heavy, pruning what needs steering, removing what the sand has finally undercut. Summer evenings run long here and so do the days; the light off the water holds until nine. Storm damage cleanup is a season of its own, and Muskegon supplies plenty of it — limbs down, brush everywhere, driveways to open. The part worth staying for is the after: a swept yard, a cut face clean and pale, nothing left to do but sit under the shade that's still standing.
