A squall can come off Lake Michigan and be over Muskegon Township in the time it takes to fill a gas can — white, sideways, gone again, and four inches deeper on the drive. That is the winter half of the year for A&K Lawn Service and Snowplowing LLC: trucks out early, driveways and lots opened, walks cleared and ice treated before the run toward Muskegon Lake begins. The other half is grass — weekly cuts, trimming, edging, and cleanups on yards that range from riverside lots to the newer streets east of town. Two calendars, one set of routes, and the same standard either way: a straight border in June, a clean apron of pavement in January. It is outdoor work in a place that hands you both extremes and expects you to be ready for each.
