The old depot on Cass Avenue still carries the shape of a place where trains once pulled in, and in late autumn the light around it goes copper by four in the afternoon. Liss Landscaping is out in that short daylight across Mount Clemens, mowing what still grows, trimming, and clearing leaf after leaf out of the corners where the wind stacks them. Come the first real storm the work changes character entirely — plowing, opening walkways, spreading salt along the shady runs that never quite dry.
