The Clinton River makes a slow elbow through downtown Mount Clemens, and the light coming up over it in April is thin silver before it decides to be gold. ABC Landscaping and Lawn Care works both halves of the year along that water: mowing, trimming and edging once the turf finally wakes, then plowing, shoveling and salting when it goes back under. There is a particular satisfaction in the first cut of the season, a yard turning green in a single pass and the border beside the front walk suddenly clean again. In January the satisfaction is different and just as real — a driveway opened wide to the pavement, salt down before anybody has to leave the house.
