West of downtown the land tips gently toward the golf slopes along Currie Parkway, and on an April morning that whole side of Midland smells like thaw and first cuttings. Ron Kutchey Landscaping opens the year there — spring cleanups, beds turned and mulched, the first mowing of a season that will run past Halloween. Summer settles into a weekly rhythm: cut, trim, edge, tidy, gone before the afternoon turns hot. When the mowing ends the plowing begins, drives and walks cleared through the dark months and salted wherever the ice keeps coming back. The mowers go away in November and the blades come out; the list of addresses stays the same.
