Snow behaves differently downtown, where the brick storefronts along 1st Street throw it into drifts against the doorways and the streetlights turn the whole block a soft blue. A shop can't open with a foot of it piled on the threshold, and a household can't get to work behind the ridge the county plow left at the end of the drive. Eric's Lawn Care and Snow Removal LLC handles both ends of that problem, plowing drives and lots, cutting through the road ridge, shoveling walks and entryways down to bare footing. It is plain work with an obvious result: a clean dark stretch of pavement where an hour earlier there was nothing but white. Menominee runs on mornings that start exactly that way.
