October in the older neighborhoods north of downtown Mason turns a whole street over at once, and the oaks along Ash hold their leaves the longest of anything. Somerville Lawn and Landscape LLC mows right into that color, then clears the leaves and gets the yards put to bed. A few weeks later the first hard frost silvers everything and the plows go on the trucks. From there it is driveways, walkways and salt, again and again, until the ground greens up and the whole order starts over. Both halves of the year end in the same place: a property that looks looked-after.
