About Spodeck Contracting

West of Marquette the iron country rolls out toward Negaunee — rock cuts, headframes, yards carved into the ridge — and at dusk the light turns everything rust and violet. Spodeck Contracting works that ground in both of its moods: plowing, shoveling and ice control when the snow stacks up along the range, then mowing and trimming and edging once it finally lets go. Property up here has to be maintained against the land it sits on, with its grades, its gravel, its hardwood leaves and a frost that lingers. Handling it year-round means never arriving as a stranger to somebody's driveway. The place stays kept, which is all anyone was after in the first place.
