Clippin & Whippin

About Clippin & Whippin

July in Manchester township smells like cut hay and hot dust off the gravel, and the crickets start up before the last yard of the day is finished. Clippin & Whippin earns its name out there — the mower down the open lawn, then the trimmer around every post, stone and downspout until the whole edge reads as one continuous line. Country properties get long passes; the village lots off Main Street get patient ones. Fall cleanups take the leaves and the summer's leftovers away before the ground stiffens. Plain work, obvious reward: a yard that looks finished rather than merely shortened.
