April Saturdays in Livonia smell like cedar mulch and wet ground, and the hardware lots along Plymouth Road are full by nine. WiseGuys Lawn and Landscape spends that season pulling yards out of their winter slump — spring cleanup, bed edging, mulch by the yard, seeding, fertilizing, and mowing once the grass means it. Summer settles into weekly cutting, trimming and edging; autumn ends in leaf hauling. Then the trucks change over to plows for driveways, shovels for walks and steps, and salt wherever the cold makes it necessary. A yard tended from that first April Saturday through to the last plow of March never really has an off week.
