Red Arrow Highway still keeps its old rhythm through Lincoln Charter Township — fruit stands, low motels, a slow lane of summer traffic drifting toward the water. Hawks Lawn & Landscape works the properties along it and behind it: mowing on rotation, hedges and shrubs shaped back to a clear line, mulch refreshed so the beds read dark against the green. Late-August light comes in sideways and long out here, and it is unkind to a sloppy edge, which is a decent argument for cutting every one of them true. Cleanups take care of the rest, with the winter litter going out in spring and the leaves going out in November. Tidy yards, one after another, on a road people have been driving a long time.
